Manufacturing Capabilities Winding a Transformer Coil

TEAL takes pride in our world class manufacturing capabilities. From the vertical integration of our transformer manufacturing to our short lead-time, TEAL manufacturing stands for quality. The key aspects of our manufacturing capabilities are:

  • World Class Manufacturing
  • Reduced lead-times
  • Suppliers as partners
  • Online Documentation

TEAL has made the industry buzzword "World Class Manufacturing" a reality when it comes to designing and building power subsystems. TEAL is able to accomplish this while maintaining ISO 9001:2000 quality, short lead times, Just in Time (JIT) delivery - with our suppliers as well as customers - and competitive costs. Our OEM customers have become more competitive by shortening their products' time to market, outsourcing their power requirements to TEAL and focusing on what they do best.

To ensure quality, repeatability and short lead-times, TEAL has implemented manufacturing pull lines. Each assembler pulls a completed portion of an assembly from another assembler, checks quality and adds their portion to the assembly.

Power conditioning unit during assembly TEAL uses an MRPII/ERP system to measure efficiency, level capacity, and to reduce lead-time. Our supplier base is an integral part of lead-time reduction. We implemented kanban and JIT deliveries with our key suppliers, and we measure their performance in the areas of quality, on time delivery, and service each month. TEAL considers the relationships with its suppliers as important as the relationships with its own customers. We refer to our suppliers as partners.

TEAL successfully researched, developed and implemented an online documentation system to service the custom nature of the products that TEAL builds for its customers. The system consists of high-resolution cameras, image database software, digital video equipment, document authoring software and PC based viewing equipment. Manufacturing can easily access the system and quickly produce complex documents. These documents are organized into virtual folders that contain short videos, annotated color photographs and drawings. The assembler can easily see what the finished product will look like, upon proper completion of the unit. This also aids in error free, repeatable products. Quality online documentation is yet another tool that TEAL utilizes to speed our customer's time to market.
